Hannibal Mejbri: FA fees Burnley midfielder with misconduct for allegedly spitting at Leeds followers


Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri has been charged with misconduct by the Soccer Affiliation for allegedly spitting in the direction of Leeds United followers final month.

Mejbri, 22, got here on in its place within the 83rd minute of the Premier League match between the edges at Turf Moor on 18 October, which the Clarets gained 2-0.

However the alleged incident is alleged to have occurred 16 minutes earlier than his introduction, whereas the previous Manchester United participant was warming up.

Lancashire Police looked into the matter after a grievance was made by a Leeds fan within the away part of the bottom.

An FA assertion mentioned: “It’s alleged the participant acted in breach of the legal guidelines of the sport and/or in an improper method and/or used abusive and/or indecent behaviour by spitting at or within the path of Leeds United supporters across the 67th minute.

“Hannibal Mejbri has till Friday 28 November to offer a response.”

BBC Sport has contacted each Burnley and Leeds for remark.

Tunisia worldwide Mejbri joined Burnley from Manchester United in August 2024 in a deal which may finally be price £9.4m.

He has made 50 appearances in all competitions for the Clarets, scoring one aim.
